By observing man over a period of time we can conclude, man has a discipline problem. True, no one is perfect but to every Christian; or you that name the name of the Lord, must work!!! to manage our behavior young and old if we expect to enter into Jesus Kingdom as immortals. Jesus said (Rev:3-21) To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Don't think you will tip toe through the tulips to accomplish this, prepare yourself to encounter many war's and battles in your mind daily; Satan is busy. Our mind is the battle ground where we win and shout the victory, or we lose in agony of defeat. However, be encouraged to know that Jesus said; (Jn:16-33) These things have I spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulations; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
(2Corth:10-4) For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imagination and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. For the Lord our God did not leave us helpless in (Jn:17-14) Jesus said I have given them thy word. Now we must believe the word and act on it. Also he has given us the authority to use his name which is above every name. (Mk:16,17-18)
Let's look at some of the weapons of our warfare
(Ephe:6,10-18) 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; We win in Christ Jesus
Now we will name a few of the battles you will go through......
The scripture tell us the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal:5,19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifested which are these:
Adultery,fornication,uncleanness,lasciviousness,Idolatry,witchcraft,hatred,variance,emulations,wrath,strife,seditions,heresies,envying,murders,drunkenness,revellings,and such like, of the which I tell you before as I have also told you in the past. They that do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
God know we are not perfect and some of the challenges we have will knock us down however, as we lean on and trust in the word, God will deliver us.
(Ps:34,17-19)
- v-17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
- v-18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
- v-19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
God gave us a look at a portion of his character, if we apply these things to our lives we will not be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ
(2Pet:1,1-10) 2 Peter 1:1-10
v-1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
v-2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
v-3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
v-4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
v-5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
v-6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
v-7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
v-8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
v-9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
v-10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall;
Finally and most importantly, separate yourself from this untoward generation by keeping God's law; the Ten Commandments, this is the whole duty of man. (Ecc:12-13).
